PGCE Consolidation

The PGCE Consolidation programme is a one year development and support programme for teachers who have undertaken the PGCE internationally.

What is the PGCE Consolidation Year?

If you have completed a PGCE course internationally, you will have developed an understanding of planning, teaching and assessment strategies in international classrooms. The PGCE will have helped you to develop links between practice, theory and research in order to enhance your teaching.

Your professional development should not stop here and, as such, Educational Success Partners have developed the PGCE Consolidation Year in order to further embed your learning and enhance your classroom performance.

Why do a Consolidation Year?

A teacher is always learning and this specifically designed programme is based on the UK Teachers' Standards and allows PGCE graduates to reflect on how they are performing in their classrooms.

Following comparable methodology to those undertaking NQT Induction (from QTS awarding programmes), the PGCE Consolidation Year offers ongoing support and guidance from an experienced ITT Mentor through the first year post qualification.

The year-long programme allows you to consider your own development against each of the UK Teachers' Standards in detail and record evidence against each standard while teaching.

How does it work?

Providing candidates time to consolidate their PGCE learning, the programme also allows them to consider how their teaching impacts on pupil learning.

The online programme tutor will work with candidates on a termly basis providing helpful feedback about their evidence and 1:1 coaching sessions to discuss performance against the Standards.

The tutor will also offer professional guidance on how candidates can ensure maximum impact through their teaching.

Is QTS the next step?

The evidence gathered through your PGCE Consolidation Year can be used to support future applications for QTS awarding programmes such as the DfE Asssessment Only (AO) Route to QTS if you choose this route in the future. ESP offer the Assessment Only Route to British curriculum schools worldwide.
