School Reviews

At ESP all of our consultancy and review services are bespoke and tailored to customer-need. We aim to validate quality and to support schools to offer the very best provision to their students. We understand that every school is unique, and because of this, support is tailored with location and culture central to our thoughts. ESP reviews are carried out with sensitivity and understanding of the unique position of the school in which we work. While your ESP Challenge Partner will review and debate current practice, it will always be conducted in a constructive way and against a pre-agreed development agenda.

ESP consultancy reviews are designed to mirror inspection trails used by Ofsted and BSO inspectorates in order to provide a robust and reliable assessment of quality and the identification of areas for improvement.

The visit will be planned in consultation with the school and with a series of agreed foci for the review determined in discussions with the school Principal and SLT. This will be followed by an in-school review visit that may include learning walks, lesson observations, work scrutiny, stakeholder and staff interviews and analysis of pupil data.

Following the review, and in no more than 7 working days, the school will receive a formal written report on the outcomes of the visit. This will draw on the practical findings of the review and suggest a number of areas for further improvement. All work, and reports, will be quality assured and signed off by our MD Amanda Picillo before publication.

  • Listen, hear and observe

  • Learn (about your school, its culture and ambitions)

  • Demonstrate positive regard for, and sensitivity towards, your school and the wider community

  • Work with the leadership team to identify opportunity areas to further strengthen your school's provision

  • Offer updates on best-practice in UK education, sources of evidence and expertise

  • Work with the school on a collaborative approach for further development to include all stakeholders

  • Offer well-informed challenge on learning, achievement and leadership

  • Be honest, discrete, patient, open and accessible to all

We will…

We will not…

  • Make rush judgements or recommendations without substantial evidence from observation

  • Assume that we understand the school, its ethos and community better than those within it

  • Have a hidden agenda in our work. All work is bespoke and will be agreed with the Principal ahead of the visit

  • Impose our own agenda or undermine the authority of those we are supporting
